SAVING MY LIFE FROM WHAT?

PSALM 6:4 “O LORD DELIVER MY LIFE, SAVE ME FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR STEADFAST LOVE.”

The Psalmist rightly realized every-ones’ life is in peril, never guaranteed. Mere existence (one definition of life) can be snuffed out by sickness or accident. But I think the writer is thinking more than about mere breathing. Any life has the potential for much more. He prays that the Lord “DELIVER MY LIFE.” This suggests we likewise pray for deliverance, SAVING us from a mundane , meaningless life. We pray for a VIBRANT, PRODUCTIVE LIFE where we can offer value to others and feel fulfilled with the time we spent in “life.” We know the Lord will respond because of His “STEADFAST LOVE.”
