DON’T SELL GOD SHORT!

MATTHEW 7:11 “HOW MUCH MORE WILL YOUR FATHER GIVE GOOD GIFTS TO THOSE WHO ASK HIM?”

Jesus starts this discourse by asking what any decent father would do for his son. How much more would our perfect , loving, Heavenly Father do for us? Over the years I’ve noticed how often Christians SELL GOD SHORT. Jesus invites us to ask God, as our Father, for good gifts. It’s as if Jesus is implying our Father wants to give us gifts. However, as a God who respects FREE WILL, He is not going to control anyone’s life by giving benefits just so someone likes Him, unless that person requests assistance. WHEN HAVE YOU ASKED God for a “good gift?” If you know not for what to ask, let him surprise you! We could even pray, “Father, I don’t choose to serve you mainly for gifts but I know you are pleased to give me the gifts I really need.” What a TRAGEDY to sell God short and not take Him up on His offer!
