PSALM 40:13 “O LORD, MAKE HASTE TO HELP ME.”
The early monk, Casian, writing about 400 A.D., suggested his version of this verse as the SIMPLEST PRAYER to offer. By praying in earnest these words only, we are inviting Jesus to pray for us, since He knows best what we need. Who of us are wise enough to know exactly what we need to be protected from and nurtured to be our best self, given our personal potential? This one sentence prayer is conveying our fervent wish to know where we should be going and the directions to get there. When we read this simple sentence carefully we come to realize how profound it is. I try to pray daily, “LORD, HELP ME BE MY BEST ME!”
