PSALM 23:1,6 “THE LORD IS MY SHEPARD, I SHALL NOT WANT. SURELY GOODNESS AND LOVE WILL FOLLOW ME ALL THE DAYS OF MY LIFE.”
David composed these words after he attained a measure of fame. Success in life was not his original motive in serving God. He reports, in fact, all the good that came to him was the result of his closeness with God. His POSITIVE ATTITUDE is evident here and the reader can’t help but wonder if his success was in part due to his mindset. He confidently expects, “I shall NOT BE IN WANT” and “Surely GOODNESS AND LOVE will follow me all the days of my life.” He, like all of us, had his share of tragedies, but I think his assessment, confirmed by my own life experience, would be that the “GOODNESS all the days of my life” far OUTWEIGH the negative.
